About Us

Janina Hasselamnn

My name is Janina, I am 39 years old, and since 2023 I have been living in the small village of Auktsjaur in Swedish Lapland.

Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up surrounded by dogs, and from an early age I developed a deep passion and connection to these incredible animals.

I studied and worked as a physiotherapist in Germany for many years, a profession I truly loved and found meaningful. Helping people, understanding the body, and supporting recovery was something that fulfilled me deeply. And yet, there was always something missing the time I longed to spend with dogs and in nature.

Over time, this feeling grew stronger until I realized that I wanted to bring these two parts of my life together. That is when I decided to follow my heart and start a completely new chapter in the Arctic North, turning my passion for dogs into my profession.

Here in Lapland, surrounded by endless forests, snow-covered landscapes, and the silence of nature, I finally found exactly what I had been searching for: a life close to dogs, nature, and authentic experiences.

Working with sled dogs is far more than just a job for me it is a way of life. Every tour is a special experience, and I love sharing the beauty of Lapland and the unique bond between humans and dogs with guests from all over the world.

My goal is to create unforgettable and personal adventures where both guests and dogs feel comfortable, safe, and respected.

I look forward to welcoming you to Auktsjaur and sharing this magical place with you.

Mikael Sandin

My name is Mikael Sandin. I was born in Luleå, in the far north of Sweden.

More than 30 years ago, I started my journey with sled dogs together with my wife, Birgitta Sandin. In those early years in Luleå, we built our life around the dogs not just as a business, but as a shared way of living and a deep passion.

In 2000, we moved to Arvidsjaur, where we continued and developed our dog sled business. It became the place where our vision truly came to life: a life close to nature, the dogs, and each other.

Birgitta Sandin

Birgitta had a strong passion for both art and dogs. She had a special way of seeing beauty in the smallest details in the light over the snow, in the silence of the forest, and in the rhythm of the dogs moving through the landscape. Together, we built a life where these worlds came together in harmony.

The dogs have always been at the heart of everything. Each one with its own personality, strength, and role in the team. They are not just part of the work they are part of our family and the foundation of this life.

In 2023, Birgitta passed away unexpectedly. It was a profound and painful loss. She left behind a deep imprint in the dogs, in the place we built together, and in everything this life has become. She will never be forgotten.

Where Our Paths Met

Mikael and I met at a time when life had already shaped both of us in very different ways.

There was no expectation and no plan — only a natural connection built on shared values: respect for animals, love for nature, and a way of life that is honest and grounded.

Step by step, I became part of the daily life here — learning the dogs, the work, and the rhythm of the seasons. It was never about stepping into something finished, but about becoming part of something that is still alive and evolving.

Over time, something very natural developed between us — a partnership built on understanding, trust, and a shared vision for this life with the dogs.

Today

Today, we continue this journey together — Mikael and Janina — with the dogs at the center of everything we do.

The life here in Arvidsjaur is shaped by decades of experience, deep respect for the animals, and the memory of everything that came before.

Birgitta remains part of this place — in the dogs, in the values, and in the spirit that continues to guide us every day.

This is not a new beginning that replaces the past.

It is a continuation — shaped by what was, what is, and what still grows forward.
